One More Game of The Year Title Secured!

Story Highlights
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 won numerous Game of the Year awards last year.
  • The CRPG has bagged this title again at the DICE awards.
  • In total, the game has won 65 of these awards from various events and outlets.

Baldur’s Gate 3 single-handedly dominated the industry and its discussion in 2023. This CRPG stood tall as the best of the genre last year, winning Game of the Year at The Game Awards.

Several months later, not much has changed. The game continues to receive accolades for its excellence, claiming victory at the DICE awards most recently.

Why it matters: This victory brings the game’s total Game of The Year count to over 65, making it even more impressive.

This was the 27th annual DICE event, making it a major win for Larian Studios as the event approaches its 30th anniversary.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has secured Game of The Year at this event despite competition from Spider-Man 2, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and more. Previously, the CRPG also won Game of The Year at the New York Game Awards.

In addition to the ultimate title, this entry won an award in the RPG category, excellence in narrative, and more. Meanwhile, Spider-Man 2 found plenty of success at the event after a disappointing showing at The Game Awards.

It ended up victorious in various categories, being hailed as the best action game. Last year’s surprise horror hit Alan Wake 2 also took home an award for its impeccable art direction.

In total, Baldur’s Gate 3 took home four titles at the DICE awards.

The CRPG was also a major commercial success. While the studio has yet to announce sales figures, Hasbro alone has made $90 million from this release thanks to a licensing deal with the developer.

Overall, the 27th annual DICE awards were a huge success. This event honored various developers from the industry, appreciating them for the contributions made to millions of lives last year.

However, following Baldur’s Gate 3’s impact on gaming, it was no surprise that Larian Studios stayed ahead of the curve, becoming one of the dominant forces at the event.
