Baldur’s Gate 3 Still Averaging Over 130K Steam Players Daily

Impressive Numbers After Three Months!

Story Highlights
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 is already over three months old.
  • Over 100K Steam users continue to play the game each day, rivaling some of the most popular multiplayer games.
  • The game is also arriving on the Xbox platform next month.

With 2023 nearing its conclusion, Baldur’s Gate 3 is expected to go down as one of the biggest and most surprising titles of the year. Currently being the highest-rated Metacritic release of 2023, it is also in the race to win Game of the Year.

Though the game turned 3 months old yesterday, it is doing very well on Steam. At the time of writing, Baldur’s Gate 3 is still the 10th most played on the platform and is averaging over 130k players daily.

Why it matters: The RPG has managed to keep players engaged for three months. This is not common for single-player games since gamers are quick to lose interest and move on after a few days.

Over 77K players are still immersed in the RPG, and over 139K concurrent Steam users have played the game in the last 24 hours.

Looking at the all-time peak, Baldur’s Gate 3 gathered over 875K players after its release. While the current numbers are nowhere near this peak, it is still incredible to see a single-player game retaining this many players.

Compared to last month, the game has lost around 60-70K players on average, as it was averaging around 200K Steam players in October. However, this is not as bad as it may seem.

A game like Starfield was averaging around 50K players last month. While it was released after Baldur’s Gate 3, Bethesda’s RPG has lost players much quicker than the Larian release.

It is important to note that this player count is only for the Steam version. When factoring in the player count on PlayStation, the total numbers will likely be much higher since the RPG was the second most downloaded game on PSN last month.

A leaker reports the game will arrive on Xbox Series S|X on 6 December, just before the end of 2023. Therefore, three months after its release, the RPG is expected to go through a resurgence.

Nonetheless, these figures prove that Baldur’s Gate 3 has stood the test of time, establishing itself as one of the best in the RPG genre.
