Still In Beta And Graphics Will Be Improved!

Avowed was announced in 2020, but the game has been missing from recent Xbox events. However, a new gameplay trailer was finally shown at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2023.

While many fans anticipated the game, the gameplay trailer did not get the reception that the studio had hoped. The game failed to impress with its visuals, and fans believed that Obsidian Entertainment did not live up to its reputation with Avowed’s gameplay.

However, a developer at Obsidian Entertainment has confirmed that Avowed is still in beta, and the graphics can be improved.

Why it matters: Obsidian Entertainment is among the best first-party developers for Microsoft. As such, fans always have high expectations of them, but Avowed did not live up to these expectations.

An Obsidian developer named Briar Diem has shared more information about the game on the RPG Codex forums. While fans were discussing the gameplay trailer, he shared that the game has not entered alpha yet. He said:

“Art will get refined in various ways. Lighting will change.”

This indicates that the graphics will be improved for the full launch.

In a now-deleted post, the developer also claimed that the latest footage fails as a trailer. According to the developer, various people at Obsidian Entertainment believe this is the case.

He believes that the game should not be compared to The Outer Worlds, and the recently released screenshots are more accurate representations of the game’s current build. Still, audiences will be glad that Obsidian Entertainment is working hard on the game.

Avowed is among the major first-party Xbox titles in 2024. Obsidian Entertainment has become popular for great titles like Fallout: New Vegas and fans have high hopes for another exceptional release from the studio.
