Armored Core 6 Joins Top 5 Steam Best-Sellers Ahead of Release

5th Best Selling Steam Game!

After the huge success of FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, the developer announced Armored Core 6 at The Game Awards last year. While the first reveal did not show much, FromSoftware went on to confirm the game’s release date in April.

Armored Core 6 is coming out on August 25, and the anticipation is quickly picking up the pace with a few days left before launch. Following the excitement surrounding the IP’s long-awaited return, the game is currently the 5th best-selling Steam release.

Why it matters: The Armored Core franchise is returning after nearly a decade, and FromSoftware has exploded in popularity since the last release. This will introduce millions of new fans to the studio’s second major franchise.

As seen above, Armored Core 6 is at the 5th spot on Steam’s best-sellers rankings when excluding free-to-play releases. FromSoftware’s next release is trailing only behind popular titles like Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077.

The list is currently led by the recently released Baldur’s Gate 3, which has become the best-rated PC game on Metacritic. Unsurprisingly, Starfield is also high on the list due to the expectations from Bethesda’s space RPG.

Recently, it was reported that only 300 developers worked on Elden Ring and the next Armored Core entry. While many big studios with thousands of developers struggle to release games in a timely manner, FromSoftware continues to impress.

In addition to single-player gameplay, Armored Core 6 offers a PvP mode. The first footage highlights combat at breakneck speeds, leading to excitement among fans of competitive gaming.

Considering the series has not been relevant for over a decade, this is a strong start for Armored Core 6. The game was always expected to reach a niche audience at launch, but its current position on the list implies that this may not be the case.
