Alan Wake 2 And Baldur’s Gate 3 Tied For Most Nominations At TGA 2023

Both Are Contenders For Game of The Year!

Story Highlights
  • The Game Awards will be hosted on the 7th of December.
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 have been nominated for the most categories.
  • Both titles have been nominated in 8 different categories.

With December right around the corner, The Game Awards will return during the first week of next month, like every other year. This event will go live in a few more weeks, but the nominations have already been revealed.

Surprisingly, Starfield has failed to be nominated for the most prestigious Game of The Year award. However, other big releases like Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, and others have been selected for this award.

The aforementioned titles will be strong contenders at the event since Alan Wake 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 are tied for the most nominations at The Game Awards.

Why it matters: This is a massive achievement for Larian Studios and Remedy Entertainment since this year’s event has the most competition in The Game Awards’ 10-year history.

All of the categories are out for fans to vote, and it has been noted that both Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 have been nominated for nearly every major category, making them the two most picked games at the event.

Both titles will battle for categories like Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Score & Music, and more. In terms of individual categories, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 have been nominated for the best RPG and Action/Adventure game, respectively.

While titles like Spider-Man 2 and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom were expected to be the obvious picks, it is great to see unexpected hits like Alan Wake 2 receiving so much attention.

This game was Remedy’s most important project, so the attention appears to have paid off. It has received praise for visuals, in particular, setting a high bar for future current-generation games to meet.

On the other hand, Baldur’s Gate 3 has set new benchmarks for RPGs, becoming a massive hit for its narrative featuring multiple choices, engaging combat, and a gameplay experience that sticks closely to classic CRPG elements.

Therefore, both games have been quite deserving of this success.

Baldur's Gate 3

While both games are strong contenders, we believe Baldur’s Gate 3 has a higher chance of winning Game of the Year due to its impact and influence on the gaming industry in 2023.

It has already won the Ultimate Game of the Year award at Golden Joystick a few days ago.

With so much competition, The Game Awards will be an exciting event to watch next month. As the 10th consecutive iteration of this event, this year’s show holds the potential to be the best one yet.
