The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update Is Getting Negative Reviews On Steam

The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update dropped today across all current-gen platforms. While the update is being handled quite well by Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles but PC community is suffering from performance issues even with the latest GeForce RTX 40-series graphics cards struggling to catch up. As reported previously, the upgrade is extremely GPU Intensive on PC.

These performance issues, crashes, and FPS drops in the next-gen update on PC have led to over 400 negative reviews from players on Steam just a few hours after launch, thanks to our foreign friends at XPG for noticing it first. Undoubtedly, The Witcher 3 is one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed RPGs of all time due to its intriguing storyline and impressive gameplay.

Still, PC gamers suggest that CD Projekt Red has ruined a perfect game with the free update. After the update’s release, numerous negative reviews have popped up on the popular PC gaming platform, Steam; you can see below the recent reviews posted by players.

The players suggest rollback the game to the previous state to avoid crashes and performance hiccups. The alarming thing is the number of people agreeing with these negative reviews posted recently.

While the game’s storyline is still the good old one as we remember, the overall experience has been ruined due to these performance constraints after the update for the veteran Witcher series fans that have spent hundreds of hours playing the game.

Even on Twitter, PC gamers have no good words for the upgrade and have reported numerous bugs and crashes after they update their game to the latest version.

It's disappointing to see how poorly #TheWitcher3NextGen performs and how often it seems to crash when changing settings. Hopefully @CDPROJEKTRED can fix and optimize things quickly because the improvements are fantastic but I'm having Cyberpunk launch flashbacks right now.

It crashed once for me while adjusting the settings and the performance is so bad. I get more performance on Cyberpunk than the witcher 3 next gen update.

The Witcher 3 Next gen update on PC has to be the worst release out of any patch in recent times.
But I still have hope it's just some bad DirectX12 or Nvidia AI cores feature implementation, and will be fixed soon.

As seen in the above Tweets, some players have compared The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update launch with Cyberpunk 2077 launch back in 2020, which was also filled with game-breaking bugs and issues. This shows that the upgrade still needs a bit of optimization before it runs perfectly on the current-gen PCs without putting any extra burden on the hardware.
