AMD has recently foreshadowed their Ryzen 7000 series processors in the Computex 2022 event. Alongside that, we’re seeing 5.0 GHz clock speeds, amazing IPC uplifts, and an entirely new platform. However, there is no official information regarding the RX 7000 series graphics cards. Furthermore, the lineup consists of the RX 7900 XT, RX 7800 XT, RX 7700 XT and RX 7600 XT GPUs.
For now, let’s take a look at the AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT graphics card. Firstly, it does not look like the 7000 series graphics cards are anywhere near launch. Secondly, we currently know that the RX 7700 XT is going to launch in 2023. On the other hand, the other graphics cards in the lineup are going to launch by the end of 2022.
In addition to the release date, we are confident the RX 7700 XT will come with TSMC’s 5nm+6nm process node. Like the RX 7900 XT, which will have a multi-chip design, the 7700 XT will follow an MCM design too.
So far, the GPU’s chipset in the 7700 XT has the name, “Navi 32”. Meanwhile, alternate names for the chip are “Navi 32 XT” and “Navi 32 XTX”. However, the chipset is still famous as Navi 32. Similarly, the core architecture has the name, “RDNA 3” which is the successor to the “RDNA 2” architecture. Subsequently, there have been a few leaks regarding the Navi 32 which we shall be looking at today.
Above all, as there are no official leaks regarding the RX 7000 series GPUs, we cannot promise any performances. Therefore, we advise you guys to read the remainder of the article with a slight grain of salt.
In conclusion, we will talk about tweets from leakers who give factual information. Furthermore, we will also explain everything the 7700 XT comes with.
Radeon RX 7700 XT Architecture
To clarify, we don’t have a lot of information regarding the AMD RX 7700 XT’s architecture. There have not been a lot of leaks regarding the 7000 series graphics cards so far. On the other hand, a few speculations regarding the specifications for the 7700 XT have been going around.
We can currently verify that the 7700 XT is going to arrive with the Navi 32 chipset. In light of that, the Navi 32 chipset is the successor to the Navi 22 chipset. Furthermore, the Navi 22 chipset powers the RX 6700 XT graphics card.
Then again, we see a tilt in performance over here. While the 6700 XT is solely for entry-level 1440P gaming, current speculations of the 7700 XT are insane. According to the popular Twitter leaker, @KittyYYuko, even the RX 7600 XT is faster than the RX 6900 XT.
Navi 33 (?) = Navi 21 + Next Gen IP Core
— Elysian Realm (@KittyYYuko) May 2, 2021
Provided that this leak is true, the RX 7700 XT in itself is going to be a hit graphics card. Also, according to @KittyYYuko, the Navi 33 is going to be faster than the RX 6900 XT. Obviously we should take such leaks with a grain of salt; however, you never know.
Nevertheless, over the years, we have seen AMD shock the computer world again and again. Therefore, something similar happening again is definitely not out of the spectrum.
Lastly, with @KittyYYuko’s speculations, the 7600 XT is going to have the performance of the 6900 XT. But, it will simply come with a next-gen IP core.
Ultimately, the RX 7700 XT is definitely going to be stronger than the 7600 XT. In short, simply thinking about its performance benchmark is enough to make us go bonkers over here.
3D Stacked Dies in RX 7700 XT
In addition to Navi 31, reports suggest that the Navi 32 is going to come with 3D stacking as well. Now, obviously, the chances of 3D stacking being present in the Navi 32 are lesser.
However, if it becomes a thing, then the AMD RX 7700 XT might be the go-to GPU for all consumer brackets. It is important to take note that 3D stacking might increase prices as well. On the other hand, we can see some juicy performance gains, and, who doesn’t like that?
Above all, what is 3D stacking you ask? To clarify, 3D stacking or 3D V-Cache is a chip connection technology. Through 3D stacking, it is possible to vertically stack chips without the usage of physical wires. Subsequently, using the L3 Cache within the 3D V-Cache chip, gaming latency can improve by a lot.
Provided that, FPS in games can increase a lot simply through using this kind of technology. Also, AMD is the first company on the planet to have come up with such a profound 3D stacking method.
Until a few years ago, we heard Intel speak of bringing 3D stacking. But last year, AMD released their Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor with 3D stacking. The processor has since become the gaming king of the consumer market simply through a 3D stacked chip on top.
Likewise, if you wish to know more about 3D stacking technology, you can watch this video by AMD. The following video is an in-depth explanation of what 3D stacking is and how AMD managed to make it happen.
Stream Processors
Until March 2022 rumors kept stating that the RX 7700 XT would have 10,240 stream processors (SPs). However, these rumors came to a close in early May when an update regarding the stream processors came out.
YouTube leaker iVadim provides us with a few updates regarding the number of SPs the RX 7700 XT will have.
According to iVadim, the RX 7700 XT will have 8,192 stream processors instead of the original 10,240. Now, this may definitely feel like a downgrade, but the performance margin remains similar to the original.
Nevertheless, iVadim investigates the changes; they state that the RX 7700 XT will go above 3.0GHz at base clock speeds. All things considered; these changes are aligned with what Twitter leaker @greymon55 has leaked so far.

🤔— Greymon55 (@greymon55) May 2, 2022
Regarding this tweet, @greymon55 speculates that the Navi 31 will come with 12,288 stream processors instead of the original 15,360.
Similarly, the Navi 32 will get 8,192 SPs as iVadim discussed as well. Lastly, the Navi 33 will feature 4,096 SPs, thus being the slowest of the bunch.
Back in December 2021, @greymon55 tweeted a few guesses for the clock speeds and SPs of the 7000 series GPUs.
The latest stream processor counts may sound disappointing but the increased clock speeds will surely make up for it.
Along with better IPC and the probable 3D stacking, the RX 7700 XT will surely be a worthy opponent. In that regard, the RX 7700 XT will most likely be having a go against NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 GPU.
GPU Memory
Unfortunately, there haven’t been many leaks regarding the GPU memory present in the RX 7700 XT.
Even so, taking @greymon55’s tweet in mind, the GPU could have a minimum of 12GB GDDR6 VRAM. Consequently, the tweet suggests that the 7700 XT will have 192MB of Infinity Cache,
In addition, iVadim gives more recent leaks. Also, personally speaking, we think these are more likely to be the final specs. Looking at their leaks, it seems they agree with @greymon55 regarding the amount of VRAM.
As we can clearly see, iVadim also suggests that the 7700 XT will have 12GB GDDR6 VRAM. Similarly, the RAM will have a speed of 20+ Gigabytes per second (Gbps). In comparison, this is much faster than the RX 6700 XT or even the RX 6900 XT. Besides that, iVadim also suggests that the Navi 32 GPU will come with 256-384 MB of infinity cache. Then again, we still do not know whether or not this is going to be true. Nevertheless, it is easily achievable with 3D V-Cache technology.
Simultaneously, the RX 6900 XT debuted with an infinity cache of a “measly” 128 MB. Notwithstanding, this should be enough to show simply how absurd the RX 7700 XT can possibly be.
Power Draw
In light of AMD’s previous launches, we already know that they are extremely secretive about their product descriptions. Usually, until the last moment, we do not know what to expect from their upcoming products.
Thus, we can say the same for the RX 7000 series graphics cards. Above all, especially the RX 7700 XT.
Now, talking about the power requirements for the 7700 XT, there are almost no credible leaks so far. Even so, if we look at the image from before, iVadim has come up with draft numbers.
Keeping this in mind, you should take these numbers with a slight grain of salt. Although there is no concrete evidence, it is safe to assume the AMD RX 7700 XT will be a 250W card.
Taking the RTX 4070 in the account, we know that it’s either going to be a 250W or a 350W card.
Seeing how AMD is trying to push past NVIDIA recently, the 7700 XT might be in the lower spectrum. At least in terms of power requirements, of course.
Provided that, let’s say the RX 7700 XT does come with a 250W power requirement. If that happens, it’ll only require a slightly greater amount of power than the RX 6700 XT. Alongside that, to run an RX 7700 XT with a Ryzen 9 5900X, you will likely need a 750W power supply.
RX 7700 XT Release Date
During the January 2022 sales report, Lisa Su gave us a tentative date that Navi 3x series will launch in the 2nd half of the year. However, this is only true for the Navi 31 and Navi 33 based graphics cards.
Listing them out, these are the RX 7900 XT, RX 7800 XT and RX 7600 XT graphics cards. Moreover, the RX 7700 XT release date, from the start, has been circulating sometime around Q1 2023.
Surprisingly, a piece of news came out a few days ago. According to a Polish website, TCL has leaked the release dates of the next-gen X-box, PS5 Pro, and the 7700 XT.
We do not know whether TCL knows something or whether these are mere guesses; however, the timelines might have changed.
Subsequently, summarizing the image taken by PPE, we can see a simple roadmap. For instance, hovering upwards from Gen 8.0, started in 2013 to Gen 9.5, which will release in 2023/4.
Upon looking at Gen 9.5, we’re seeing PS5 Pro, New Xbox Series console, 8K output, and RX 7700 XT. While this is not an official leak, it’s possible the 7700 XT’s release date might have shifted for Q2-Q3 2023.
Although we can’t really say anything right now, it is best to hope that the dates have not shifted backward. Due to the fact that NVIDIA’s 4000 series GPUs might be released in July, AMD must be rushing as well. Giving away the market to the competitor is the last thing AMD will want to do.
RX 7700 XT Pricing
As of currently, there are not many sources that have revealed any prices for the AMD RX 7700 XT. Despite that, seeing how NVIDIA will price their RTX 4070, it’s possible the 7700 XT will be a $500+ GPU.
Subsequently, while the RTX 4070 is supposedly going to cost $499-$549, we are almost certain it will cost more. Twitter leaker @shmitapz gives his understanding of the prices too.
I have a dream.
But i fear the 7800XT would be more expensive than a 4080 and i don't even want to start on the whole 4050 vs 7600(XT) thing. pic.twitter.com/JOlstatDEp
— Shmitapz (@shmitapz) March 25, 2022
According to @shmitapz, the RTX 4070 and the RX 7700 XT will cost about $599. Although a bit aggressive, both companies have seen how the consumer buying power has increased.
In contrast, it would be a bad marketing move to not capitalize on such valuable information. But, us customers are definitely not going to like it. Therefore, it is going to be challenging for both companies if performance of their GPUs are on par.
Of course, we advise everyone to take this information with an open head with the possibility of it being wrong. Then again, it could very well be factual and accurate; you never know.
Regardless, whether prices are $499 or $599, if the performance isn’t false, consumers will definitely buy the RX 7700 XT. To add, the market situation is improving as well so we can expect to find these GPUs at MSRP.
RX 7700 XT Specifications
Through everything that we have discussed so far, let’s look at the specifications for the 7700 XT. Notwithstanding, all of this information is solely based on leaks and none of it is official.
With that in mind, the following chart is simply us guessing what the specifications can be. Because AMD is so secretive, an official chart will only come after the product releases in the market.

RX 7700 XT Performance
As of June 2022, we still do not know anything officially in terms of the RX 7000 series graphics cards. Leave performance, we do not even know properly when the RX 7700 XT is going to launch. Still, what we know is that apparently the Navi 33 is going to be faster than the RX 6900 XT.
Taking in account that the Navi 33 is the weakest link, Navi 32 must be even better in performance.
What we’re expecting is somewhere about 10-15% faster than the RTX 3090. Of course, this comes with a huge asterisk on top.
Nevertheless, we do understand such performance is simply unbelievable to accept from a budget GPU. But seeing how the tech world is going, maybe it’s about time we move from 1080P monitors to 1440P monitors. The RX 7700 XT might just be the start to that revolution.
Frequently Asked Questions
So far we don’t have enough information to narrate whether the 7700 XT will be worthy of 4K or not. On the other hand, we currently believe the Navi 32 graphics card to be the ideal 1440P candidate. At present, that is the best we can hope for.
In short, no, you don’t. All things considered, the RX 7700 XT is barely going to be a 250W graphics card. At most, maybe 300W. That is merely at the 6900 XT’s Thermal Design Power (TDP) range. In addition, for the 7700 XT, we recommend looking at a few gold-rated 650-700W power supplies.
To clarify, according to recent leaks, the 7700 XT is going to have a multi-chip design. Furthermore, that means AMD is going to utilize TSMC’s 5nm and 6nm technology. Lastly, to find out more about the multi-chip design simply read the architecture heading within this article.
Until now, we’re hoping for the RX 7700 XT to launch in Q1 of 2023. Provided that it’ll not be released with the rest of the family, that date seems to be the most reasonable. However, according to TCL’s leaks, this date can be pushed back to Q2-Q3 of 2023 as well.
