The gaming industry is no stranger to Naughty Dog. The studio has been responsible for several genre-defining titles such as Uncharted, The Last of Us, and Crash Bandicoot. While the studio has remained a PlayStation exclusive developer for well over a decade, recent releases from the studio will soon be making their way onto the PC platform.

The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will be Naughty Dog’s first foray into the world of PC gaming. The game will include Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy bundled into one package. While a release date has not been announced yet, the game is expected to arrive this year.

However, it seems like this is just the beginning of Naughty Dog’s ventures in the world of PC gaming. A new job listing first spotted by Twitter user @Zuby_Tech for Core Tech Programmer, Game Team at the studio could hint at Naughty Dog Games/Engine getting PC optimization. The listing says,

“We have a small core tech team, so you will interact with multiple departments, game systems, and pipeline technologies.”

“Experience with PC application programming. Experience in creating one or more of the following PC applications in C++ or C#: level editor, art prototype catalogue/database”

Job Listing For Core Tech Programmer, Game Team At Naughty Dog

The job description mentions experience with PC application programming in particular, as the image shows. Furthermore, several PC applications like a level editor and animation editor are also mentioned. This could hint to the team at Naughty Dog preparing to familiarize themselves with PC game development for the future.

However, this job listing could also have something to do with Naughty Dog working on their game engine for future releases. Last of Us 2’s multiplayer mode has allegedly been in the works for some time now, perhaps Naughty Dog is working on engine optimization for the multiplayer release. While both scenarios are likely, the developers have not said anything officially as of right now. Therefore, it would be wise to take this information with a grain of salt.

The prospect of more Naughty Dog games on the PC platform is certainly exciting. The developer has been known to create incredible single-player titles over the years. Naughty Dog is also well known for its visual fidelity across its various games. It seems like the developer is once again looking to push the boundaries of gaming in the coming years, and PC gaming could be an integral part of that process, going forward.
