Ever since its reveal, Phantom Blade Zero has been one of the most anticipated console exclusives coming to PS5. Marketed as the start of a brand new action genre, the game’s scintillating combat and creative boss design, which makes enemies fight like other players, have captivated players around the globe.

The anticipation around Phantom Blade Zero has been reflected in the action title’s pre-order sales, with developer S-Game stating that pre-orders have heavily exceeded expectations. As it turns out, the upcoming action game has already crossed the coveted million sales mark before launch.

Why it matters: A creative venture like Phantom Blade Zero, which aims to reimagine the action genre in a new light, getting this much commercial success is something exciting.

According to Alinea Analytics, Phantom Blade Zero has easily sold more than one million copies worldwide before launch. As per the firm’s data, the S-Game title has shipped 850k units pre-launch on PS5 and Steam, with the latter accounting for a whopping 73.8% of the sales.

Furthermore, Phantom Blade Zero has already generated $43 million in revenue, and the PS5 only comprises 30.8% of this share. The game’s Chinese audience is primarily responsible for the Steam dominance, with 75% of the pre-orders on the platform coming from China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

The pre-order total passes one million units because of Tencent’s Chinese PC storefront, WeGame, which accounts for a considerable share of sales, according to Alinea Analytics, even though the firm doesn’t have raw data. Moreover, only accounting for PS5 and Steam sales, the title is already one of the top 40 highest-earning games of the year, and that is before it has fully launched anywhere.

Phantom Blade Zero
The game has impressed with its sales across all platforms.

With the action title opening up to rave reviews from critics, being hailed as one of the strongest GOTY contenders in 2026, Phantom Blade Zero is certainly set for an even stronger commercial start than the pre-orders suggest.
