- Two pallets of Zotac RTX 5090, worth $500,000, disappeared at a Brazilian airport.
- The distributor has launched an investigation, but they haven’t found out anything.
- This is a very curious case since they’ve never seen anything like this in 20 years of importing.
It is no secret that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 now costs a fortune. Released at an MSRP of $2,000, the GPU is now topping $8,000, with some premium variants costing over $10,000. So, even a single card can cost a seller or a buyer a big loss.
Now, a new report indicates that nearly $500,000 worth of RTX 5090s disappeared from São Paulo airport, Brazil. The distributor has been investigating the catastrophe, but for now hasn’t found out what happened.
Why it matters: Considering the massive value of the GPU, it often becomes a target for fraud, but considering how expensive the shipment was, this could well be a case of stolen GPUs, if not a blunder by the airport staff.

Oderço, the distributor, revealed that two pallets of Zotac RTX 5090 disappeared at Guarulhos International Airport, São Paulo. The CEO says they’ve been importing since 2008, and this is the first time this has happened.
Unfortunately, at the moment, nothing is clear. No one knows if the GPUs disappeared at the airport, if it was a handling issue, or whatever. The distributor has launched an inquiry, and it is currently under investigation.

This is unusual since the distributor has been working for nearly 20 years, and this is the first time something like this has happened. But then also, GPU prices have never been this bad, so we could be looking at a case of stolen goods.
