The latest Steam hardware survey has shown an interesting trend. Despite rising memory and graphics card prices, the most popular GPU in the survey isn’t a mid-range budget product.

In fact, the survey shows that the RTX 5070 is now in the top spot.

Why it matters: The latest changes to the Steam hardware survey highlight how average spending on gaming PC hardware has increased over time.

The GeForce RTX 5070 has taken the top GPU spot in Steam’s latest hardware survey. This is interesting since GPUs like the RTX 4060 and RTX 3060 have occupied this spot in the past.

Currently, the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti are in second and third place, respectively. Others like the RTX 3060 and RTX 4060 are also on the list, but the RTX 5070 has them all beat.

The ranking suggests PC gamers are spending more on graphics cards than ever before. Today, the RTX 5070 costs close to $1000, though many likely bought the GPU at a lower price in the past.

On the other hand, 32GB of RAM has also overtaken 16GB as the most common memory configuration among Steam users. This is again interesting since memory is currently more expensive than it has ever been.
