Since the appointment of Asha Sharma, the gaming giant has cut thousands of jobs while shuffling around multiple studios as it tries to trim excessive weight and stop losses.
Despite the new CEO saying Xbox will return to growth in the 2027 fiscal year, there are still question marks around the long-term future of the company. Now, Asha Sharma has come out to clear any doubts about where Xbox stands under Microsoft’s leadership.

In a new interview with The New York Times, Asha Sharma emphasized that Xbox is not for sale amidst concerns that Microsoft is shopping the gaming giant around. The CEO insisted that leadership will do anything it takes to set the company up for success and that it is looking at the right business models and partnerships to achieve that.

A report from a few months ago revealed that Microsoft might try to divest from Xbox, making it an independent standalone company or invite other investors to pump money into the gaming giant, handing over control of the entity.
However, if Asha Sharma’s comments are anything to go by, Microsoft isn’t looking to ditch Xbox anytime soon despite its decision to stop subsidising the company. CSO Matthew Ball also assured fans recently that the Xbox business isn’t dying at all, instead emphasizing how much the console sector is growing.
With Satya Nadella expressing his happiness with the recent job cuts and streamlining happening at the company, it’s safe to say Asha Sharma has bought Xbox some time to turn things around.
