Call of Duty fans’ grievances with skill-based matchmaking are nothing new at this point. In fact, many were glad to see this part of the game toned down in Black Ops 7.

With Modern Warfare 4 now around the corner, fans are once again concerned about the game’s matchmaking. In fact, a new petition is asking Activision to completely get rid of SBMM.

Why it matters: Fan outcry and public opinion have gotten matters resolved in the past, so Call of Duty fans are hoping that the petition will do the same for them.

Call of Duty fans have launched a new petition demanding the removal of skill-based matchmaking from the franchise.

This petition comes from YouTuber Tdawgsmitty, who was inspired by Bungie’s recent response to the Destiny community. Following this response, the YouTuber decided to take initiative and created this petition.

The petition points out that casual Call of Duty playlists should not be dominated by strict SBMM, a system that attempts to match players with others of similar skill. Fans note that this type of matchmaking makes perfect sense in Ranked play and should stay there.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Call of Duty fans have raised their voice against Activision’s strict SBMM. The publisher has also openly addressed the matchmaking in the past, so it will be interesting to see whether the latest effort makes a difference.

Although the petition is limited to 4,619 signatures for now, it could attract further attention in the coming days. Similar petitions tend to gain a lot of traction, so the same is expected to be the case here.
