Story Highlight
  • A new report indicates that Hogwarts Legacy has generated over $2 billion in revenue.
  • It has also sold over 40 million copies, making it one of the most successful games in recent years.
  • WB Games has confirmed that the sequel is currently in active development.

Harry Potter fandom had been longing for a game where they could have their very own wizarding journey, and that’s when Hogwarts Legacy launched. It wasn’t a perfect title, but it captures the magical world amazingly well.

The game became a huge hit among the fans and one of the best-selling games of this decade, with over 40 million units sold. Now, a new report reveals that Hogwarts Legacy has also generated over $2 billion in revenue

Why it matters: We’ve had a fair share of Harry Potter games in the past, which were tie-in titles with the movies; however, none of them were really great games until Avalanche Software’s title was released in 2023.

Hogwarts Legacy has reportedly generated over $2 billion in revenue

According to WB Games former Marketing Manager Chandler Wood’s LinkedIn, Hogwarts Legacy has generated over $2 billion in revenue, making it possibly one of the highest-grossing games in all of the recent years.

Obviously, Warner Bros. isn’t letting the IP go to waste, as they’ve confirmed that a sequel is also currently in development. Fans wanted a lot more stuff with the original game, and they could get it with the sequel

The Harry Potter universe has a huge loyal following, and based on the first game’s success, expectations will be even higher for the sequel. We might even see its official reveal somewhere near HBO’s TV show release.
