GTA 6 Said To Be Free From Microtransactions!

Story Highlight
  • Rockstar Games has confirmed that GTA 6 won’t feature any microtransactions.
  • The gaming giant is following the trend of keeping its single-player component free of any purchases.
  • Fans can expect microtransactions and in-game purchases in GTA Online but not in the single-player mode.

Rockstar Games’ massive information drop for GTA 6 has been a treat for fans thus far. Following Netflix’s incredible look at the gameplay, the team has shared more information on the game’s NPCs, open-world, and much more.

The studio has also stated that GTA 6 will not feature any kind of microtransactions.

Why it matters: Microtransactions have become incredibly popular in the games industry, and most teams never let an opportunity to sell in-game purchases go by.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Is Coming In November

Discussing the game during the latest Kinda Funny Gamescast, Greg Miller confirmed that the subject of microtransactions was brought up when talking to Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson.

He went on to confirm that the game would not feature any microtransactions, refusing to say much else on the matter. Of course, this isn’t too surprising given Rockstar Games’ single-player history.

GTA Online, even in GTA 6, should be an entirely different matter. Fans can certainly expect to see no shortage of microtransactions in this mode, but because GTA Online won’t be part of the game at release, this statement should be valid, at least at launch.

GTA 6 Features Rockstar Games’ Biggest Single-Player Experience Yet

This is good news, since various AAA publishers never let an opportunity to include microtransactions slip. Even in single-player games, a team like Ubisoft has become famous for overly relying on cosmetics, XP boosters, etc.

Although GTA Online will likely make up for any missed opportunities with in-game purchases, Rockstar Games’ statement does affirm that the single-player component will be microtransaction-free.
