As promised earlier this month, Rockstar Games has finally pulled the curtain back on GTA 6 in a big way.
Amid the exciting previews from various outlets and the Netflix Extended look, details regarding the game’s performance have been confirmed. The team has also confirmed that GTA 6 offers a whopping 80 hours of story content.
Why it matters: The developer has truly gone above and beyond for GTA 6, making this game’s story the team’s most ambitious so far.
Speaking to The New York Times, Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson confirmed that GTA 6 offers a lot in its open world. The developer encourages players not only to focus on the main story involving Jason and Lucia, but also to explore the many side activities that Vice City has to offer.
Discussing the game’s length itself, the preview notes that Rob Nelson’s latest playthrough lasted around 80 hours, including mainly the story and a few side activities. As such, it appears the brunt of GTA 6’s narrative content alone measures up to around 80 hours of gameplay.
For reference, Red Dead Redemption 2, the studio’s most extensive game, can be completed in 50-60 hours when focusing on the story alone. GTA 6 seems to have upped this figure by quite a bit.
This also means that the GTA 6 story will last 2x longer than its predecessor’s.
The question now will be how well GTA 6’s narrative will stack up against the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2, especially since this particular Rockstar Games title is famous for its storytelling and characters.
