- A new report claims Rockstar employees’ morale took a big hit following GTA 6 leaks.
- Many developers are upset that stricter security measures failed to prevent this massive leak.
- Netflix is also incredibly frustrated following the premature gameplay reveal.
The sudden onslaught of GTA 6 leaks took the gaming scene by storm, causing Take-Two to lose over a billion in market value so far. The leaker also implied that he owns a playable build of the game, and he’s made big money with every leak via a paid poll and a crypto coin.
A new report now confirms that this spree of leaks has had an incredibly negative effect on Rockstar Games so far. Overall morale and mood among developers have dropped sharply, and management has communicated very little with the team so far.
Why it matters: The final months of GTA 6 development could take a massive hit following the low morale of Rockstar employees if this crisis is not resolved in the near future.
This report comes via credible insider Jason Schreier, who claims he’s interviewed several Rockstar employees after the GTA 6 leaks. Rockstar developers are reportedly feeling exhausted, as the leaks happened just as the game was headed into its final sprint.
Morale is a concern at this point because it can be frustrating to see something like this happen. […] People are just kind of like feeling exhausted.
-Gaming Insider, Jason Schreier.
The developers are especially upset because the leaks happened even after Rockstar adopted stricter security protocols following the 2022 leaks. The team was forced to work 5 days a week at the studio, and many proprietary tools were only accessible on-site since then.
Netflix is also incredibly frustrated with the unfolding drama, as the first GTA 6 gameplay premiere was meant to be shown at the extended look. However, the timing of the upcoming reveal has not changed, at least.

Jason adds that a senior executive assured Rockstar employees via email that players would be super excited after they get to see GTA 6 gameplay, but it had little effect on the studio’s morale.
Additionally, Rockstar has yet to discover the leaker’s identity or determine how the breach occurred in the first place, contrary to ongoing rumors that he’s been identified.
