Marvel: Tokon Fighting Souls launched earlier this month, and although the game was lambasted for its PC port and lost players quickly, it seems to have landed well among the critics.
At the time of writing, this Arc System Works fighter has amassed a set of very positive reviews.
Why it matters: Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls was one of 2026’s most anticipated titles, especially among fans of fighting games. The fighting game, however, did not launch with any reviews due to a lack of review copies.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is off to a strong critical start, with the game currently listed at an 86 average score on Metacritic. This score places the Marvel-branded fighter in a healthy position, especially when compared to other fighting games from the same team.
The score means that this Marvel-based fighting game is now up there as one of Arc System Works’ best-rated games. For reference, the massively successful Dragon Ball FighterZ boasts a similar Metacritic score of 87/100.
Elsewhere, Guilty Gear Strive is rated 87/100 on the platform. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls also falls among the 30 highest-rated games of the year with this score.
As for the reviews themselves, the game has been praised for its accessibility and gorgeous visuals. Critics have also praised the game for staying true to the Marvel universe and its characters.
Moreover, the 8.0/10 user score suggests both critics and audiences think similarly of the fighting game.
