Faye God of War Spinoff rumors are heating up again before Sony’s June 2 State of Play, with insider AlexandreNGamR, also known as Alir, claiming that the event’s mystery big reveal is the long-rumored Faye game.
The claim comes from a short reply on X, where the insider responded to talk of a blockbuster State of Play reveal by saying it is “the Faye game”. Sony has not announced this project, so treat this as a rumor for now.
Why it matters: God of War is still one of PlayStation’s biggest franchises, but a Faye-led entry would be a sharp turn away from Kratos. That is exactly the kind of reveal that can either carry a State of Play or start three days of exhausting discourse.
Sony Has Only Confirmed Wolverine For June 2
Sony has officially confirmed that State of Play returns on June 2, with more than 60 minutes of updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals. The show will begin with a closer look at Marvel’s Wolverine, according to PlayStation’s own listing.
We already covered the confirmed event details when PlayStation State of Play was set for June 2. The stream is scheduled for 2 PM PT and 5 PM ET, and Sony says it will air on YouTube and Twitch.
This Is Not The First Faye Rumor
The Faye rumor has been around for months. Earlier this month, sources suggested that the God of War Faye spinoff could be revealed soon, with insiders pointing toward a May or early June PlayStation event.
Before that, reports claimed the next mainline God of War could feature Faye as the playable lead and lean into faster, more action-focused combat. That would be a major shift from the slower, heavier Norse games.
Another report claimed the next God of War title may feature multiple mythologies, including Chinese and Japanese elements. If true, Sony may be using Faye to take the series somewhere the Kratos-led games have not gone yet.
The Rumored Game Would Be A Big Swing For Santa Monica
Faye is Kratos’ wife and Atreus’ mother from the Norse saga. She is central to God of War 2018, but mostly through memory, prophecy, and other characters’ stories. A full game starring her would finally put the player inside a part of the timeline Santa Monica has mostly kept off-screen.
That can work. It also has a risk. Faye is important because of what she means to Kratos and Atreus, not because players have already spent 40 hours controlling her. Sony would need to show real gameplay, not just a title card and a dramatic bow draw. The concept needs proof under load.
The timing would also make sense for the franchise. Sony already used a previous State of Play to announce the God of War Greek trilogy remake, while God of War: Sons of Sparta was shadowdropped around the same event window. PlayStation clearly has no issue using State of Play for God of War news.
If the rumor is accurate, the June 2 State of Play could end with one of PlayStation’s biggest first-party reveals of 2026. If it is wrong, this becomes another reminder that pre-show rumor season is mostly people staring at smoke and arguing about the shape of the fire.
