- A new Metro title will allegedly be confirmed next week with an official announcement.
- This tidbit comes from a new leaker whose previous scoop was corroborated by a trusted insider.
- We may see a teaser trailer or a simple confirmation by developers on Twitter soon.
The post-apocalyptic Metro franchise has only grown in popularity over the recent years, as players are especially drawn to the series’ dreadfully beautiful art style. So it’s no surprise that the last game has sold over ten million copies since its launch in 2019.
A new scoop now reveals that the next mainline Metro game is finally being announced next week. The last game, Metro Awakening, was a shorter VR-exclusive, so fans have been craving a more traditional experience in the franchise.
Why it matters: The new Metro project is finally ready enough to be revealed after years of waiting. The entry has faced a lot of hurdles during the development process because of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war that followed suit.

This tidbit comes from @AlexandreNGamR, a new insider who already seems to have a decent reputation. He previously leaked the upcoming PlayStation State of Play date and its third-party focus, which was corroborated by the established insider, Nate the Hate.
4Games also teased the announcement of a new Metro title late last year, so the added timeline makes the rumor more credible. The game’s development was progressing swiftly by February 2025, and it had reportedly been in development since way before.
The game was also said to be in a very playable state as early as 2024, which means the studio might be performing final touch-ups on the Exodus sequel. We could even expect a late 2026 or an early 2027 launch window based on these tidbits.

Not much is known about the new title so far, but 4Games did confirm that it would have an even darker story than Exodus. Therefore, the community has incredibly high expectations.
The studio is also working on a separate new franchise, but nothing about it is known so far.
Do you think the new Metro game will retain the game’s popular ambiance and art style, or will it go in a different direction? Are you looking forward to the sequel? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
