- Reliable insider claims a new Star Fox and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake are dropping this year.
- The new Star Fox game will be released in the summer, while the Zelda remake is planned for the latter half of 2026.
- A Nintendo Direct will take place in June.
2026 could be humongous for Nintendo as the gaming giant is planning 2 massive surprises for fans. First, a new Star Fox game is under development, with the series returning after a nearly decade-long hiatus.
Secondly, 1998’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is getting remade for Switch 2, currently aiming for a release date for the second half of 2026.
Why it matters: Fans had been complaining about the lack of first-party Nintendo games for the Switch 2 handheld, unaware they had these surprises in store.
In his latest video, leaker Natethehate discussed everything coming to Switch 2 this year. He confirmed a new Star Fox game for this year, which will take the series back to its roots.
Star Fox is coming back in summer 2026. We’re getting a new Star Fox game in the very near future.
This new Star Fox game is described as quite similar to the older entries, and the visuals are “supposed to be good,” featuring a multiplayer mode. The next Nintendo Direct is expected in June, so the game could very well be shadow-dropped, but it’s only speculation right now.
As for the Zelda Ocarina of Time remake, the game is being released to celebrate the IP’s 40th anniversary, with a release planned for later this year.
What I can share with you today is that in the second half of 2026, approaching the holidays, we are going to receive an Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2.
As for other predictions, he had unfortunate news for Mario fans, stating that the new Mario 3D game won’t be released this year, and that does make sense since it would mean too many first-party releases all at once.

Other than that, expect multiple third-party AAA games releasing on the Switch 2 this year, finally addressing the previous concern about a lack of support when the handheld first launched.
