Highguard Studio Seemingly Shuttered Following Game’s Failure And Shutdown

Highguard Was Shut Down After 45 Days And Now Wildlight Entertainment Is Gone!

Story Highlight
  • Highguard is gone forever, and it seems Wildlight Entertainment has now been shut down.
  • The studio’s official website and LinkedIn page no longer show up.
  • Studio head Chad Grenier is also open to work and seems to no longer be working at Wildlight Entertainment.

Highguard has become the only game to rival Concord in terms of the magnitude of failure for a AAA title in recent years. Concord was shut down by Sony just two weeks after its release, and similarly, Highguard was recently shuttered over a month after its release.

Unfortunately, the team behind Concord did not survive this fallout, and it seems Highguard developer Wildlight Entertainment has met a similar fate.

Why it matters: Wildlight Entertainment had already suffered layoffs before the game’s shutdown, so it seems it was only a matter of time before the entire studio was disbanded.

Highguard is a mishmash of many popular multiplayer tropes.
Highguard Tried Something New But Failed To Appeal To Many Players

Heading over to the official Wildlight Entertainment website currently returns a 404 error. Although this isn’t sufficient evidence alone, the studio’s LinkedIn page further adds to the doubts regarding its future.

Visiting the Wildlight Entertainment LinkedIn page shows that it no longer exists. As such, it seems highly likely that the studio has ceased operation following Highguard’s collapse.

If there was doubt left, studio head Chad Grenier’s LinkedIn profile reveals that he is open to work and is no longer at Wildlight Entertainment.

While official word on the matter has yet to show up, it seems incredibly unlikely for Wildlight Entertainment to be functioning after the events that have transpired over the last month.

Unfortunately, Highguard launched in a saturated market and did not do enough to stand out, even if it was far from a bad game at the end of the day.
