- The new Xbox CEO, Asha Sharma, appears to be using an AI bot for her social media responses.
- Her statements referencing commonly used memes, Xbox’s multiplatform push, etc., have raised eyebrows for AI use.
- The executive’s AI background also supports this theory, leading many to believe a bot is handling her Twitter account.
Xbox Head Phil Spencer has now stepped down from his position, and Asha Sharma is set to replace him as the CEO of Microsoft’s gaming division. The new CEO comes from a primarily AI-focused background, but she has promised to refrain from chasing AI slop for short-term gains in the gaming industry.
Many have appreciated the new CEO’s stance on this matter, but her social media responses seem to contradict it. Asha Sharma appears to be using AI to respond to fans‘ queries regarding games and the future of Xbox.
Why it matters: AI has become an increasingly controversial topic in the games industry, and this latest discourse revolving around the new Xbox CEO has only added fuel to the fire.

When Asha Sharma was named the new CEO of Xbox, many questioned her passion for the games industry.
She quickly alleviated the situation by naming Halo, Valheim, and GoldenEye 007 as her favorite titles, but evidence suggests this response may have been AI-generated. In fact, most, if not all, of her Twitter responses appear to have been generated by AI.
Responding to Twitter user Smash JT’s gif referencing the popular Tom Hardy meme from Mad Max, Asha Sharma responded, “Top 3 Mr. Hardy?” This response raises eyebrows and indicates AI use, as it references Tom Hardy rather than Smash JT, which is expected of a bot.
In the very next response, the Xbox CEO thanked him for a detailed answer in a manner that can only be described as very AI-like. Even her latest tweet, asking gamers for their top 3 favorites, uses an emoji commonly associated with AI chatbots like ChatGPT.
Add to this the fact that Goldeneye 007 is more or less never referred to as 007, and it does appear like the current Xbox chief is using AI to respond to fans on social media. Many suspect that she has set up a dedicated bot for her Twitter account.
Great list. I did my top 3 in another reply. Halo, Valheim, 007. It’s been a long time since I played Chrono Trigger. Have you done every ending? Thanks for all the detail. I appreciate it a ton.
Her recent teaser about exclusivity seems AI-generated, given Xbox’s clear push for multiplatform games over the last two years.

These suspicions are, of course, valid due to Asha Sharma’s background in AI. For context, she previously worked as the President of the CoreAI Product at Microsoft.
