Expecting Over 4 Million Sales In First Week!

Story Highlight
  • Capcom outlined expectations for Resident Evil Requiem in its latest investor Q&A.
  • The gaming giant believes it can outperform Resident Evil Village’s launch with the upcoming title.
  • Capcom also announced that recent excitement around the series had boosted sales for other entries in the franchise.

Resident Evil Requiem is set to release in just three more months, marking an exciting period for Capcom. The publisher seems to be doing a lot right with this release, staying true to the series’ horror roots after the action-packed gameplay of Resident Evil 4 Remake.

As such, Capcom also has big expectations for the title. In fact, the gaming giant says it hopes to outperform Resident Evil Village at release.

Why it matters: Resident Evil Requiem is among the series’ fastest-selling games behind Resident Evil 4 Remake, with the latter selling 3 million copies in 2 days.

In its latest investor Q&A, the Japanese publisher was asked to outline expectations for Resident Evil Requiem. Capcom stated that the game has already received plenty of praise, setting the stage for initial sales performance outperforming Resident Evil Village.

For context, Resident Evil Village first arrived in 2021 and quickly sold as many as 3 million units in just 4 days. This figure has more than doubled now, with the title first achieving 10 million sales in 2024.

Because Capcom has already seen the excitement for Resident Evil’s upcoming entry, the gaming giant appears confident it can beat this record, outlining better performance to the investors as an expectation.

Recent Capcom titles like Monster Hunter Wilds have also sold 10 million units in a single month, so the publisher appears to have faith Resident Evil Requiem will perform similarly well, even if it fails to match Monster Hunter Wilds’ recent debut.

Also, Resident Evil Requiem will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on day one, giving it a major edge over the other entries in the series due to Nintendo’s huge audience.

In the same Q&A, Capcom noted that the entire Resident Evil series had seen improved sales as a result of the upcoming game’s anticipation. Therefore, the publisher seems to be gearing up for a huge release in Q1 2026.
