A True Cross-Platform Success!

Story Highlight
  • The PC launch of Stellar Blade drove a rare PS5 sales spike, adding over 220,000 console copies sold in under a month.
  • The renewed interest in the PS5 version generated more than $10 million in extra revenue for Sony.
  • The game also set a new concurrent player record for a Sony single-player title on PC.

Stellar Blade’ PC release did more than just smash sales records on Steam. It also gave the PS5 version a rare second wave of growth, adding over 220,000 full‑price copies in under a month.

The game first launched on PS5 in April 2024 and took almost two months to sell its first million copies there. By early 2025, sales on the PS5 had reached 2 million.

When Stellar Blade launched on Steam on June 11, 2025, it sold over 1 million copies in just three days – a much faster start than it had on PS5. This pushed total sales across both platforms past 3 million worldwide.

Why it matters: Stellar Blade’s PC launch helped Sony make an extra $10 million in revenue on PS5 alone.

Stellar Blade PC Port Drove Its PS5 Sales Too

Usually, PS5 PC ports help boost console sales a little. But this time, Stellar Blade’s PC release clearly helped push more players to buy the game on PS5.

According to Alinea Analytics, by mid-June, the game’s total PS5 sales jumped from about 1.83 million to nearly 2.1 million, an increase of over 220,000 copies in less than a month.

That’s more than four times the growth seen during earlier sales events, which usually added only 30,000 to 50,000 units. What’s more, the PS5 version stayed at its full $69.99 price, bringing in over $10 million in extra revenue for PlayStation, on top of the $70 million or more made from the PC launch.

Furthermore, China played a big part in Stellar Blade’s success on PC. The Steam release attracted a huge audience by including a Chinese voiceover, offering a lower price (around $38 compared to $60), and using local marketing.

Moreover, Stellar Blade hit a new record for a Sony single-player game on PC, with over 183K players on day one and peaking at 192K during launch weekend.
