Story Highlight
  • In just three days, Stellar Blade sold over a million copies on PC, while it took the game almost two months to reach this milestone on the PS5.
  • Shift Up has celebrated the game reaching three million sales by gifting its employee a Switch 2.
  • Previously, at the start of 2025, the developer gave its employees a PS5 Pro and over $3.4k.

Stellar Blade was recently released on PC, and it instantly managed to break the record of every former single-player game released by Sony on this platform. While Sony was persistent in keeping the game region locked, Shift Up forced it to remove this restriction.

Thanks to that, the game reached a significantly larger audience and achieved almost 200,000 concurrent players on Steam. Stellar Blade sold 1 million copies on Steam 19 times faster than it did on PlayStation 5. Due to that, the game sold a total of over 3 million copies, which Shift Up celebrated by gifting every employee a Nintendo Switch 2

Why it matters: Gifting employees on special occasions boosts morale and is something that every company should do.

Recently, a Twitter account, ShiftUpWorld, announced that the company has gifted every employee a Switch 2 to celebrate a recent milestone.

Today, Shift Up gifted all its employees a Nintendo Switch 2 to celebrate Stellar Blade surpassing 3M sales!

The company hasn’t done this out of the blue, so it shouldn’t be that surprising. For reference, last year at the start of the year, the company gifted every employee a PS5 Pro and 5 million Won (approximately $3,400).

Shift Up also gave its employees a PS5 in 2021, making it clear that the company genuinely cares for its employees. It’s impressive that the company offers its employees incentives and gifts upon reaching specific milestones.

There are game franchises that have reached significantly higher milestones, but their employees have not been treated in this manner, which paints a very positive picture for Shift Up.

Always inspiring to see companies recognize that people make the magic happen.

Fans are also appreciating the developer treating its employees like this and are saying Shift Up sounds like a good company to work for. The fandom is also comparing the Korean Developer to Western ones, saying that the latter could never do such a thing
