- Fable is the most exciting upcoming Xbox game according to fans’ voting.
- The game will release in 2026, after being delayed from the previous 2025 window.
- Fans are hyped about the return of the franchise after over 15 years since Fable 3.
Last year’s Xbox Games Showcase was a huge deal, especially considering it was right around the time when the company started leaning more towards publishing. The announcements included Doom, Gears of War, State of Decay, and more.
However, in a recent poll, most of the fans voted for Fable as the most exciting upcoming Xbox game, beating the likes of Gears, Perfect Dark, State of Decay, and The Outer Worlds 2.
Why it matters: The original Fable, released in 2004, was a massive hit among the critics and the audience, so when Microsoft announced that it was finally returning to the franchise, it hyped the long-term fans.

In a thread on ResetEra, over 36% of fans voted for Fable as the most exciting upcoming Xbox game. Coming in at 23% is Perfect Dark in the second place and Gears of War: E-Day at third with just over 14%.
Developed by Forza Horizon developers, Playground Games, Fable was first announced for 2025 but was later pushed back to 2026. While we don’t know a whole lot about it, the Xbox studio head stated that it’ll be worth the wait.

From the trailers we’ve had so far, the title seems to feature all the elements that fans love about the franchise. So, it doesn’t only feel familiar, but also completely new, based on the impressive visuals and animations.
