- Warner Bros Games suffered a 48% decline in revenue during the first quarter of 2025.
- The company blames Suicide Squad’s poor performance and the lack of major releases for these results.
- It also states that Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat 1 continue to generate revenue for the gaming division.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League needs no introduction after it became one of last year’s biggest failures. Warner Bros Games previously blamed the titles for losses worth millions of dollars, and it seems the company is still not happy with everything that happened last year.
In its latest financial report, Warner Bros Games reported yet another round of disappointing financial figures, citing Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’s failure as a major reason for the less-than-stellar results.
Why it matters: The publisher already ended support for this live-service project earlier this year, but it seems Warner Bros Games has yet to fully move on from the financial hit brought about by the title.
Discussing the financials for Q1 2025, Warner Bros. noted that games revenue declined by a whopping 48% this quarter.
As per the company, this decline was a result of the lack of major releases over the last few months. Moreover, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’s failure to meet expectations continues to haunt the publisher.
It should be noted that this game’s failure also contributed to the cancellation of Wonder Woman, another major Warner Bros Games project. All in all, the gaming division has certainly seen better days.
On a more positive note, Mortal Kombat 1 and Hogwarts Legacy continue to generate revenue for the team. This is exactly why the publisher is going all in on the two IPs moving forward.
Rocksteady has also begun hiring for a new project, with reports pointing to the return of Batman Arkham. As such, Warner Bros Games’ future could be much better than the present.
