Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the current talk of the gaming industry. After securing nearly 50K concurrent players on Steam and positive reviews, the game has earned praise from nearly all fans.
Ubisoft has also sponsored various streamers and YouTubers to promote the game, though one particular sponsorship has gone horribly wrong. Twitch streamer Olivia Monroe, who was sponsored to stream Assassin’s Creed Shadows, was banned following a major mistake from Ubisoft’s end.
Why it matters: This is not the first time Ubisoft made a mistake regarding Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ management. The gaming giant previously released the RPG ahead of schedule on Steam at launch.
According to her recent X post, Olivia Monroe had planned to stream Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Twitch at 7 AM.
These plans were abruptly halted when the streamer was banned after Ubisoft requested a takedown, and Twitch complied with the request. Later investigations revealed that the situation was caused by an oversight from the French gaming giant’s team.
Ubisoft believed the streamer went live at 7 PM instead of the previously agreed-upon time of 7 AM. Fortunately, Olivia Monroe has since been unbanned. Her Twitch channel was restored nearly five hours after the incident, and, as expected, Ubisoft received plenty of criticism following the mistake.
Many have even advised against working with the company following this incident, pointing to the studio’s poor management as of late. Still, the discussions regarding Assassin’s Creed Shadows remain largely positive.
