Rockstar Games currently has its hands full with the highly anticipated GTA 6. However, many fans are already wondering what the studio’s next project is going to look like.
It appears that Rockstar might be aiming for a smaller-scope title after GTA 6, with an old leak suggesting a La Noire sequel is slated for a 2030 launch window.
Why it matters: A La Noire sequel with Rockstar’s current expertise could be an extremely successful game with the evolved MotionScan system, especially after learning from the shortcomings of the first title.
As pointed out by GTAForums user Shahanshah, this leak comes from a 4chan user who revealed various details about the next La Noire game in 2023. The game is reportedly set in San Francisco and explores the chronicles of the famous Zodiac Killer.
Rockstar Games is also reportedly aiming to evolve its facial capture technology, MotionScan, with the sequel in an attempt to create the ‘best looking game ever made.’
This mysterious 4chan leaker is being taken seriously because he accurately described various GTA 6 mechanics in 2023, such as the relationship and criminal profiling system, and their effect on the game’s story.
He also mentioned that GTA 6 was initially supposed to have 4 protagonists, a tidbit Rob Nelson confirmed in recent previews. So fans are now paying attention to this 2023 La Noire sequel leak, which also appears true for multiple other reasons.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick teased a new La Noire sequel earlier this year, saying the company aims to do something with all of its IPs in the future when questioned about the game.
And a soundtrack from the supposed La Noire sequel was accidentally uploaded to YouTube in 2020 with LA. Noire Part Two label, which was quickly taken down by Take-Two.
Lastly, Rockstar recently acquired the old La Noire team that is now Rockstar Australia. Therefore, all these connections over the years suggest a La Noire sequel might really be in the works for a 2030 release.
