Steam User Gets 5x Money Back For Refunding Concord After Poor Beta

Steam Seems To Have Taken Pity On Concord Buyer!

Story Highlight
  • Concord’s open beta has disappointed many players, leading to refunds on platforms like Steam.
  • In an unexpected twist, a Steam user who requested a refund was surprised to receive more than five times the amount they originally paid.
  • Given the negative reception, it’s possible that others would have encountered similar issues due to numerous refunds.

Concord is PlayStation’s next big title, but it seems to be off to a rocky start. The beta on Steam performed poorly, with many players expressing disappointment. The game feels generic and lacks a unique selling point, as evidenced by its underwhelming peak of just 2.38K concurrent players during the open beta on Steam.

Amidst the negative reception, a Reddit user named Top_Leek_3743 attempted to refund their pre-order of Concord. Surprisingly, the refund amount displayed was $327.70—five times the $65.54 they initially paid for the Deluxe version.

Why it matters: While such errors are rare, they can happen to anyone. The best course of action is to contact support, as keeping the excess money could lead to complications.

Concord
Concord’s gameplay trailer focused on standard multiplayer aspects and offered nothing new.

Some users jokingly suggested that Steam felt bad for the user for pre-ordering Concord and decided to take pity on him.

Others, however, urged caution, advising the user to contact support immediately to avoid potential issues, such as losing their Steam account. While there’s a chance this issue might go unnoticed, it’s not worth risking your account or facing other complications. Contacting support is the safest option.

Given the negative reception surrounding Concord, it’s likely that many other players would have requested refunds, so other Steam users might have encountered a similar refund issue.

Concord is scheduled for release on August 23 in just a few days, but it doesn’t seem to be receiving much enthusiasm from the industry.

The game faces numerous challenges, including accusations of being unoriginal, character balance issues, bland maps, a $40 price tag, and repetitive gameplay. If the developers hope to succeed, they must address these shortcomings quickly and effectively.

Based on recent feedback, the most sensible option may be to delay the hero shooter to allow more time for improvement.

However, the director has defended Concord, claiming it offers much more than what has been shown. We hope that’s true, but it raises the question: why wasn’t the beta more compelling?
