Konami Will Make Its Own Silent Hill Games!

Story Highlights
  • An in-house Silent Hill project by Konami is reportedly in the works.
  • Konami created an in-house team last year that could be working on the project.
  • It joins Silent Hill 2, F, and Townfall as the fourth game in the franchise currently in development.

Silent Hill is one of the biggest horror franchises in the gaming industry. While it hasn’t seen a big new entry in years, it seems that the upcoming years will be great for fans. Silent Hill 2 Remake launches in October, while Townfall and F are also in development.

However, a reliable source has revealed that, in addition to these projects, another Silent Hill entry is in the works.

Why it matters: Konami has previously shown interest in working on several more entries for the IP. This move can help speed up this process with internal development resources.

Konami is internally working on another Silent Hill title.

According to Dusk Golem, Konami has intentions to create an in-house Silent Hill entry. As the company has shown a strong financial performance in Q1, it is committed to the IP’s future.

More transmissions are also planned, so fans can expect big reveals in the future. However, the source hasn’t revealed what the internally developed game will be. Whether it’s another remake or a new entry remains to be seen.

The publisher had relied on external teams for Silent Hill games until recently. For instance, the big remake is being handheld by Bloober Team, while Silent Hill: The Short Message was created by HexaDrive.

Last year, Konami created a ‘Silent Production Team.‘ Combining the leak with this information provides further insight into the gaming giant’s plans. This is much like the ‘Team Silent’ that led the development of the original Silent Hill 2.

Silent Hill 2
Multiple Silent Hill projects are now in development.

This puts Konami in an excellent position to create something the fans want. Overall, it seems like 4 projects are currently in the works.

However, Silent Hill 2 Remake isn’t off to a great start. It has received heavy criticism for looking dated and featuring sloppy gameplay. The remake arrives in October, and it remains to be seen if it will be as big of a success as the publisher wants.
