The RX 580 is one of the best cards ever made, it got popular so quickly for obvious reasons. Being a budget-tier card, it sure was a treat for the budget-oriented folks or those who want to get into PC gaming without spending a fortune.

Also, considering the current state of budget GPUs in mind, we are in dire need of graphics cards such as the RX 580.

Reasons Why We Need More Cards Like RX 580  

The AMD RX 580 was launched back in 2017 and gained popularity right after that. It was the right blend of everything needed to make the graphics card popular at that time. 

The RX 580 wasn’t Priced Horribly

The AMD Radeon RX 580 was launched with an MSRP of $229; it was $20 less than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060. However, it offered 2 GB extra VRAM than the competition. The price was arguably hard to ignore and became one of the reasons behind its popularity. 

Nowadays, graphics cards, especially when we’re talking about the budget segments, are priced horribly. Budget-tier cards such as the RTX 4060 Ti are being launched for as high as $499 with underwhelming performance. Team Red isn’t doing any better currently, which is insane, and such stupid pricing needs to be addressed by producing more decently priced graphics cards. 

The Overall Specs Of The RX 580 

The AMD Radeon RX 580 was released with two different memory configurations, 4 GB and 8 GB, both with GDDR5 memory. The 8 GB variant was the preferred one because of the additional VRAM. Moreover, the card features a 256-bit bus rate and 2304 shading units. With those combined, the card consumes 185W TDP.
The specs of the card, especially the VRAM, were on par with the GTX 1070, meaning they were ample enough to take on anything you throw at it. This, however, isn’t the case anymore because, currently, budget offerings lack balance.

Some cards don’t feature enough VRAM, some lack a decent memory bus, and so on. One of the reasons we need more cards like the RX 580 is that they come with the right specs.

Long-Lasting Performance   

The RX 580 8 GB was one of the few cards that offered such a great performance that made it last long for almost 7 years, and it’s still going strong at 1080p resolution. During its initial years, the card was even able to run games natively at 1440p resolution at such an affordable price. This only happens when you refuse to compromise on important elements needed to produce an excellent-performing graphics card. 

The currently available budget cards like the RX 7600, RTX 4060, and RTX 4060 Ti do the exact opposite and are already showing lackluster performance with minimal performance uplift over previous generations combined with the not-so-acceptable pricing. 

In such a pandemic state where no current-gen budget GPU makes sense, most people like me are opting for older-generation cards that are now available at discounted prices. Because they show excellent performance and probability of being more future-proof than currently available budget cards. 

A Great Opportunity For The GPU Giants 

Since there are no good budget cards yet from both companies, folks are actually looking for a good option that can last them for a while, as the RX 580 did to its rightful owners. This has created an opportunity for AMD and Nvidia to manufacture and release value-for-money graphics cards in the upcoming or current generation and rule the budget segment before its competition.
