Concord Is Already Being Review Bombed BeforeĀ Release

More Than 1,000 Negative Reviews Already!

Story Highlight
  • Concord has become highly controversial before its release.
  • The game had two underwhelming betas recently, leading to negative reactions.
  • This hero shooter has received over 2.5K reviews on PlayStation, and 42% of them are rated as 1-star.

Concord is shaping up to be PlayStation’s most controversial release in many years. The game’s $40 price tag seems to be the least of its concerns since the recently released Steam open beta peaked at just 2.3K players.

For reference, the open beta was 100% free, but barely anybody gave it a shot after the disappointing first beta. Players seem similarly disappointed with the game on PS5, and many have now resorted to review bombing Concord.

Why it matters: Review bombing is a major problem in the gaming industry, and it typically happens after a game is released. However, this is one of the more unique instances where a beta is being review bombed.

2,544 players have reviewed the hero shooter on PS5, leading to an overall rating of 2.85/5.

This makes it one of the worst-rated releases since the PS5 rating system was introduced, though it seems many players have left negative reviews without even giving the game a fair shot. It is important to note that anybody with PS Plus can offer a rating in this case.

42% of the players gave the hero shooter 1 star, while only 34% gave it 5 stars. On the other hand, 9%, 7%, and 8% have given the game 4, 3, and 2 stars, respectively. Still, Concord is far from a 1 or 2-star-worthy title despite its many problems.

Therefore, many of these ratings are too harsh, making this an instance of review bombing.

Concord
Concord Has Become Highly Controversial A Month Before Its Launch

Concord seems like a generic live service game with a $40 price tag and extremely poor character designs. It also doesn’t do anything original, so the game has received mixed impressions besides these reviews on PS5.

Following the first two betas, it’s easy to see why many people found Concord mediocre despite going in with an open mind. Some people still enjoyed the game, but the core gameplay didn’t seem as great as the competition.

Since the game is already being review-bombed, it might face review bombings again once the official release comes around. Platforms like Metacritic and Steam have already seen their fair share of review bombings, and Concord might end up being the latest in a long list of games facing this practice.
