Expect Last of Us Part 2 After God of War!

Story Highlight
  • Following recent PC ports, it seems Sony is already prepared to launch the next one.
  • A reliable leaker states The Last of Us Part 2 for PC is ready.
  • He confirms that development began in 2021 and concluded last year.

The Last of Us Part 1 marked the beginning of one of Sony’s biggest IPs on PC. While this was far from the best debut on the platform, fans are still excited for what is coming next.

Recent leaks have pointed to a PC port for The Last of Us Part 2. A reliable insider has chimed in on these rumors, stating that while the release date is unknown, this version has already been completed.

Why it matters: It’s odd that Sony has been sitting on a completed PC port for over six months, suggesting that the gaming giant has a special plan for this launch.

The information comes from Billbil-kun, who spilled the beans on God of War Ragnarok’s PC port not too long ago.

According to the leaker, Sony started working on this port in late 2021. Two years later, the PC version was already wrapped up, suggesting that Naughty Dog may have intended to launch it alongside The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered.

Since the leaker did not point to any release targets and God of War Ragnarok is expected to be 2024’s last port, Sony may hold on to The Last of Us Part 2 until season 2 of the TV series begins.

The first port also launched alongside the TV series, making it quite fitting for the sequel to do so again. However, Sony may also be taking extra care this time since it already garnered negativity after The Last of Us Part 1 disappointed everyone.

Anyhow, it seems The Last of Us Part 2 will be headed to PC soon. Season 2 of the TV series is expected to arrive by early 2025, making this PC port the perfect release for Sony’s first big game next year.

Following The Last of Us Part 2, Sony can continue to work through various other games. Whatever it decides, PC gamers can look forward to more ports in the future.
