PS Exclusive Horror Game Coming In 2025!

Story Highlight
  • Firesprite PS5 horror title was first found out in 2022 via a job listing
  • Sony is silent about the game and hasn’t announced it yet
  • The upcoming horror game is based on Unreal Engine 5

Firesprite has gained significant recognition with its Horizon franchise, and its recent Horizon Call of the Mountain VR Port was also considered a good one.

However, the studio seems to be working on a new IP for PlayStation, which would be a horror game, and now a new report has revealed that the upcoming horror game will target 4k/60FPS.

Why it matters: With the current condition of the PlayStation consoles, the Studio will have difficulty optimizing the game for such performance.

Firesprite
Sony Interactive Entertainment acquired Firesprite in 2021

This information was surfaced by a Redditor who dug into the portfolio of a game programmer, William Webster. The programmer mentioned that the team aims for 4K/60FPS for this game.

That’s the best news for fans, as the game came into existence when users found a job listing for the game in 2022. However, Sony never confirmed its existence.

Meanwhile, Fire Sprite also underwent layoffs with the cancellation of a project called Twisted Metal Live Service title, so there was speculation about the game as well. But at least we can confirm now that the game is alive and still in the works.

The horror title will be a narrative-driven and atmospheric thriller while using the advantage of Unreal Engine 5 to make things realistic and up to next-gen par.

Moreover, as per earlier reports, the game will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive slated for 2025 release, but the recent layoffs might change the plans for the game; however, nothing is confirmed so far apart from speculations and rumours.

Firesprite Was Previously Working On Twisted Metal

We Expect to see the announcement of the game in a few months, and with the release of PS5 Pro, the game can utilize the upscaling capabilities of that hardware to optimize it for Higher Resolutions.

The Studio is reportedly working on various titles, such as AAA PvP Action Shooter GAAS based on Unreal Engine 5. Hence, the pipeline of upcoming games for the Studio is very saturated.
