Shadow of Erdtree DLC Coming In June!

Story Highlights
  • FromSoftware’s new report reveals that Elden Ring has flown past 23 million units sold.
  • The game sold 3 million copies in 2023.
  • The numbers are expected to increase even more as the DLC release draws nearer.

FromSoftware’s premier title continues to reach new milestones for the team and Souls-like titles.

According to a report from the studio, Elden Ring has crossed 23 million units sold. This number puts it even further ahead of the developer’s past titles, which were already considered among the best games in the industry.

Why it matters: Elden Ring is a genre-defining title and was hailed as the biggest game of 2022. With over 140 awards, it also made history as the title with the most Game of The Year awards ever.

Elden Ring Is Approaching Its Second Anniversary This Week

This title had already sold 20 million units by February 2023. The sales have slowed down since then, but the new announcement means that three million additional copies were sold in the last 12 months alone.

For a game that practically changed open-world game design for good, this success is well-deserved. Not too long ago, the title experienced a resurgence on Steam, reaching nearly 100K concurrent players.

At the time of writing, the game still boasts 44K concurrent players on Steam. Meanwhile, the latest trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree has reached over 5 million views already, highlighting the current interest from the public.

This expansion promises to offer the most content from this studio. According to Hidetaka Miyazaki, no more DLC is planned for now, but the director did not rule out any potential changes to plans for the future.

FromSoftware has cemented its legacy through high-quality titles, and Elden Ring is the best example of this legacy. Therefore, 23 million sales are by no means shocking, and they will likely increase further once the DLC arrives in June.
