Splinter Cell Remake Expected To Be Released In 2025-2026

New Ghost Recon Also Scheduled For Similar Window!

Story Highlights
  • A remake of the original Splinter Cell was announced in late 2021.
  • According to a report, the remake will be released between 2025 and 2026.
  • A new Ghost Recon game is planned for the same release window.

Ubisoft confirmed that the Splinter Cell Remake was in development in December 2021. The announcement was followed by early concept artwork, and job listings revealed changes were being made to the story.

Not much has been revealed since then, but a new report from Insider Gaming suggests that Ubisoft is targeting a 2025/2026 launch for this remake.

Why it matters: This launch target would mean that Ubisoft is looking to spend around 4-5 years developing the remake. This is an incredibly long development cycle, leading to hopes for a high-quality AAA release.

The anticipation for the Splinter Cell Remake is massive. This project is built from the ground up and is being developed in the proprietary Snowdrop Engine. Alongside Splinter Cell, a new Ghost Recon game is expected to arrive in the same timeframe.

Furthermore, the same period will see the launch of Assassin’s Creed Hexe from Ubisoft. Expected to leave a lasting mark on the series, the game will follow up on Assassin’s Creed Red as the next major AAA title from this franchise.

Interestingly, this is not the only remake Ubisoft is working on. Currently, remakes of Assassin’s Creed 4 and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time are in development. However, this release window means that these games are much further away.

Both games are practically in the early stages. While the latter was Ubisoft’s first remake announcement, it has since been delayed after the project was rebooted at a different studio.

If the report is any indication, the Assassin’s Creed 4 remake might be out before 2027 or 2028. Still, Splinter Cell should allow Ubisoft to gauge demand for its remakes. If successful, this release could pave the way for several more remakes from the publisher.

A new Ghost Recon game arriving soon is also exciting, increasing the anticipation for these games further. However, the report highlights internal turmoil at Ubisoft, which has led to mixed results in recent years.

Hopefully, these hurdles will not hold the games back. With Splinter Cell being one of the studio’s best-rated IPs, there is a lot of potential in the upcoming remake, so we look forward to seeing what Ubisoft has to offer.
