Radeon RX 7600 XT 16GB Much Worse Than 6700XT At $330

6700 XT 15% Faster For Same Price!

Story Highlights
  • AMD has released the Radeon RX 7600 XT 16GB for $330.
  • This graphics card is around 6% faster than the RTX 4060 at 1080p.
  • However, the Radeon RX 6700 XT is a whopping 15% faster than the 7600 XT at the same price.

With decent 1080p and 1440p performance, the Radeon RX 7600 XT is AMD’s most recent attempt at breaking into the midrange graphics card market. However, aside from the increase in memory size, this graphics card does not offer much for $330.

Even though the Radeon RX 7600 XT outputs good gaming performance, it starts to become less impressive considering its rather high price. For around $300, the GeForce RTX 4060 performs similarly and offers Nvidia’s software features, including DLSS 3.

Additionally, the Radeon RX 7600 XT faces stiff competition from AMD’s own last-gen king. The Radeon RX 6700 XT puts this graphics card to shame for the exact same price, making it hard to justify this launch from AMD.

The Radeon RX 7600 XT 16GB is not much more than an overclocked RX 7600 with additional VRAM. The rest of its specifications are essentially the same, which helps explain the performance level this card offers.

According to benchmarks from Hardware Unboxed, the Radeon RX 7600 XT is barely faster than the cheaper GeForce RTX 4060, offering a 6% advantage. AMD’s RX 6700 XT is also 15% faster than this GPU on average when used at 1080p, making it a head-scratching launch for the same price.

The Radeon RX 6700 XT is still available on platforms like Newegg at this price. While it offers 12GB of VRAM, this is more than enough memory for 1080p and even 1440p in most scenarios.

While 16GB of GDDR6 memory is a great bonus for the Radeon RX 7600 XT, a more capable GPU with 12GB of memory would have been more suitable in this scenario.

This is not the first time AMD has failed to compete with its own products after a new launch. The Radeon RX 7600 was also hard to justify when the cheaper Radeon RX 6650 XT had similar performance.

For now, we highly recommend users opt for the Radeon RX 6700 XT. It’s a much better deal, offering better performance in every scenario. In general, this graphics card is the best mid-range option on the market today.
