Monster Hunter IP Keeps Growing!

Story Highlights
  • Monster Hunter World and Rise continue to perform well for Capcom.
  • The former has sold 23 million units, and the latter has reached 13 million sales recently.
  • More information about the IP’s next game is coming in Summer 2024.

Capcom has been firing on all cylinders with its diverse portfolio of IPs recently. New games from IPs like Resident Evil and Street Fighter sold millions of copies last year, and Monster Hunter is also doing better than ever after last month’s new reveal.

The publisher has announced a new milestone for Monster Hunter World following a newfound interest from audiences, confirming 23 million sales for the game.

Why it matters: Since this series has consistently sold millions of copies with each new release, it has joined Capcom’s list of Platinum titles.

Celebrating the New Year with a positive piece of news, Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimojo provided updated sales figures for this IP. In addition to the incredible feat of Monster Hunter World, he confirmed Monster Hunter Rise has sold 13 million copies.

The former’s Steam player counts have spiked to new highs since last month. With 93K concurrent players at the time of writing, the game peaked at nearly 150K players in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Monster Hunter Now, the mobile version of the series released back in September 2023, has surpassed 10 million downloads, marking a big leap for the series in the mobile market.

Announcing these figures, the producer noted that the general reception to this series has been quite pleasing. He thanked the fans for their continued support and assured them that Capcom’s developers are working diligently to release the next game in 2025.

Monster Hunter Wild will be showcased again in Summer 2024. While the producer did not confirm anything specific for this preview, we expect to see more gameplay footage for this highly anticipated release.

Monster Hunter has always been a beloved IP due to its mechanical depth, varied monsters, and complex systems that add to the fun of hunting monsters.

The next entry appears to be expanding on this promising concept, possibly taking the series in an open-world direction to prioritize freedom for grander and more memorable moments.

Therefore, millions are excited to see what Capcom has in store. However, the studio is supporting its latest titles in the meantime, and with this new sales update, Monster Hunter has reached an even broader audience.
