Sony Refuses To Comment on God of War Remasters Amid Recent Leak

Fans Convinced Remasters Are Happening!

Story Highlights
  • A leaker recently claimed that the original God of War trilogy would receive remasters from Sony.
  • During a Q&A days before this leak, Santa Monica Studio disapproved questions about supposed remasters/remakes of the Greek trilogy.
  • Fans are now speculating that the studio avoided this question to keep this project a secret.

The God of War trilogy is reportedly coming back soon. According to a reliable leaker, work on remasters/remakes of the trilogy is already underway, but Sony has remained silent on the matter.

During a recent Q&A, Santa Monica Studio avoided commenting on the matter, adding further fuel to the fire.

Why it matters: Since 2018, the God of War IP has grown to new heights, making remasters a safe option for Sony.

God of War Trilogy

Game Breaker God recently spoke to various developers from the studio, asking the team about their approach to God of War Ragnarok Valhalla. This DLC’s reception has been incredible so far, providing better content than many paid expansions.

Days before the recent rumblings around the original trilogy, YouTube viewers were quick to ask why Game Breaker God avoided asking the developers about remakes for the original trilogy. He replied:

“Wasn’t approved. Sorry man.”

While this does not confirm anything, fans are speculating that there is more to Santa Monica Studio’s refusal to address this question.

Following the latest DLC release, many elements of the original trilogy have been remade for God of War Ragnarok. Putting two and two together, fans believe the studio avoided this question to keep the supposed remake/remaster project a secret.

God of War Ragnarok

In 2022, the developers claimed that no DLC was planned for God of War Ragnarok. One year later, a great addition to the game has been released for free, so we don’t blame fans for being a bit suspicious.

However, it is possible that Santa Monica Studio was not hiding anything and simply preferred to stay on the subject of its latest work for the Q&A.

The Last of Us Part 2 is the newest game to receive a remaster from PlayStation, arriving with minimal visual improvements soon.

Compared to this game, a revamped version of Kratos’ Greek saga would be much more substantial since these games are older and do not have native ports on PS4 or PS5.
