Intel’s upcoming 14th-generation Raptor Lake Refresh lineup is expected to hit the market sometime next month. Even though Intel has yet to announce it officially, several leaks have indicated performance data for the Intel Core i9-14900K.
Following such leaks, the Intel Core i7-14700KF has been spotted on Geekbench, achieving a boost frequency of nearly 6 GHz. This also puts it ahead of its predecessor and much closer to the performance of the last generation Intel Core i9-13900KS.
The upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh Core i7 processor was spotted hitting single and multi-core scores of 3097 and 21196 points, respectively. This makes the Core i7-14700KF 9% faster than its predecessor, the Core i7-13700K in single-core performance.
However, in multi-core performance, the Core i7-14700KF is 18% faster.
The single-core performance figures are quite impressive and identical to last year’s Core i9-13900KS, which can also hit a max frequency of 6GHz. However, when it comes to multi-core performance, the Core i7-14700KF is slower than the Core i9-13900KS.
The Intel Core i7-14700KF comes with 8 performance and 12 efficient cores. It is also important to note that the processor was overclocked on the Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Master X motherboard in order to hit the 6GHz frequency shown.
It looks like Intel has a lot more headroom in the upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh lineup than previously suspected. This would also probably make them the fastest chips on the market in terms of single-core performance.
On the other hand, AMD is gearing up to launch its new Zen 5 architecture next year, which will probably come to the market after the Intel Raptor Lake Refresh. The Ryzen 8000 processors based on Zen 5 could bring an enormous single-thread IPC uplift.
Intel, for now, might be trying to brute force its way to earning the title for the fast chips, but things might change for the better with Arrow Lake next year. This lineup will be manufactured on a new node to bring much-needed IPC improvements to the Intel side.
