5 Million Additional Copies Sold Since May!

Unlike previous games from the Grand Theft Auto franchise, GTA 5 appears to be unstoppable. Each new quarter, Take-Two reports millions of new sales for the latest entry in the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

Like previous earnings reports, the gaming giant’s latest report has again highlighted the influence and appeal of GTA 5. As stated in the report, the title has achieved over 185 million sales.

Why it matters: The steady sales make GTA 5 one of the biggest gaming releases. This also makes it a contender for the biggest entertainment release of all time.

Previously, Take-Two reported on the game’s sales in May. Back then, the game had achieved a milestone of 180 million sold units.

As such, another 5 million copies have been sold in less than three months. The latest update puts the franchise at a whopping 405 million sales, leading to another milestone for Grand Theft Auto.

Unsurprisingly, the game’s online component continues to do well. Recently, Take-Two executives like the CEO earned a massive bonus worth millions of dollars. Microtransaction sales from GTA Online played a huge role in this bonus.

In addition to new content for GTA Online, work on the next GTA title is underway. GTA 6 is rumored to release in 2024 or 2025 and holds the potential to smash all previous records.

The game’s anticipation continues to grow with each passing month, with the title expected to sell over 25 million copies at launch.
