Elder Scrolls 6: Fans Create Petition Demanding PS5 Release

After Starfield, PS5 Owners Want Elder Scrolls 6!

The Elder Scrolls is one of the biggest RPG franchises of all time, and the next entry in the franchise, Elder Scrolls 6, was announced five years ago. Since then, Bethesda Game Studios has not revealed anything about the game.

However, recent releases like Redfall and the highly-anticipated Starfield hint that the next Elder Scrolls title will likely be a console exclusive for Xbox. A PlayStation fan has now made a petition to stop Xbox exclusivity for Elder Scrolls 6.

The petition has garnered over 1090 signatures. This comes not too soon after another PlayStation fan made a petition for Starfield to release on the PS5.

Why it Matters: Having sold over 58 million copies, The Elder Scrolls is one of the most successful RPGs ever. Skipping a PlayStation release for the next entry would undoubtedly generate fierce competition in the gaming market.

Users signing the repetition have pointed to the economic condition and being unable to buy another console to play a single exclusive game. One even called out Microsoft for seeking a monopoly in the gaming market.

The user said:

“Microsoft is seeking a monopoly. If this happens, quality will suffer and prices will increase.”

Console exclusivity is not a new phenomenon, as PlayStation also boasts a strong lineup of first-party games. This includes popular titles like God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Horizon Forbidden West, and many others.

PlayStation also restricts various game releases for other platforms through limited exclusivity deals with publishers. In the past, PlayStation delayed the release of games like Deathloop and the upcoming Final Fantasy 16 for PC.

This creates a challenging decision for users when choosing a console. In recent times, Microsoft has significantly expanded its first-party lineup compared to the previous generation, increasing the competition between PlayStation and Xbox even further.

However, Microsoft is no stranger to controversy in this regard, having previously faced criticism for Activision Blizzard merger. Sony and others have called out Microsoft, alleging it might turn Call of Duty into an Xbox exclusive following the acquisition.

However, it should be noted that there is no official confirmation regarding Xbox exclusivity for Elder Scrolls 6. Since the game is expected to be massive, Microosft will likely make it an exclusive to bring new customers to Xbox.

Still, Microsoft releases its first-party games for PC, meaning Elder Scrolls 6 will be available for PC and Game Pass on launch.
