Street Fighter 6 Launches To Over 65K Concurrent Steam Users

Already Surpassed Recent MK & Tekken Games!

Prior to its launch, Street Fighter 6 had already become the best-selling game on Steam, beating games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and even free titles like Apex Legends.

While it was not surprising that a new Street Fighter game would have a lot of anticipation around it, Capcom’s latest title appears to be setting a new benchmark for the franchise. Street Fighter 6 has also been highly successful at launch, reaching over 65K concurrent users on Steam.

Why it matters: Capcom has managed to revitalize nearly all of its major franchises in recent years, and Street Fighter is the latest franchise to return to the industry with revamped mechanics and plenty of content.

Back in 2016, Street Fighter 5 launched to less than 20K concurrent players on Steam. The game peaked at 14,783 concurrent players, and the latest game has beaten this number by more than two times.

Compared to other fighting game franchises, Street Fighter 6 still comes out on top. Highly popular games like Mortal Kombat 11 reached less than 36K concurrent players, while Tekken 7 saw less than 20K concurrent peak players on Steam.

Capcom is also aiming higher than ever for Street Fighter 6. The company has set a target of 10 million sales. The previous game already reached over 7 million sales, and Capcom’s goal appears highly achievable after the launch reception.

These launch numbers also make Street Fighter 6 one of the most successful fighting games on Steam.

It remains to be seen if upcoming games like Mortal Kombat 1 or Tekken 8 will be able to enjoy similar success, but for now Street Fighter 6 has outmatched all of the biggest fighting games on Steam.
