Hi-Fi Rush Developer Reportedly Working On New JRPG

JRPG From Tango Gameworks!

Tango Gameworks recently shocked the gaming industry when the developer shadow-dropped one of the most well-received games of 2022. Hi-Fi Rush was released without much marketing and quickly won players over with its visuals and gameplay.

Since then, the development studio has already seen massive changes. For starters, studio founder Shinji Mikami left Tango Gameworks in February. Ghostwire: Tokyo from the same team has also been released on Xbox consoles and subscriptions like Game Pass and PS Plus.

The developer is already working on its next game, and a new report from a popular leaker, eXtas1s, claims that Tango Gameworks’ next project is a JRPG adventure.

The same leaker has previously reported an accurate release date for the much-awaited GoldenEye 007 and more, adding to his credibility.

While a JRPG might be a very different style of game for Tango Gameworks, the studio has been known to venture into different gaming genres. Games like Hi-Fi Rush, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and The Evil Within are based on entirely different genres and styles of game.

Despite their differences, all three games have been well received, with the latest release being the studio’s best work yet. As such, it should not be surprising that Tango Gameworks would be willing to try its hand at a JRPG.

Furthermore, Microsoft has also been making a massive push in the Japanese gaming market. With the release of the Xbox Series S|X consoles, the gaming giant has found new life in the region.

Previously, Sarah Bond from Xbox confirmed that the platform would continue to host more Japanese games in an attempt to grow in the region. A new JRPG from a renowned developer would go a long way toward bringing Japanese gamers to Xbox.

Microsoft is also no stranger to JRPG games. During the Xbox 360 generation, the gaming giant worked with Japanese developers on JRPG games like Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon.

However, this is not all. According to the leaker, Tango Gameworks has another project in development. This project will be based on a new IP, but not much else is currently known. While the leaker has proven reliable in the past, it would be best to take things with a slight grain of salt until further confirmation.

Microsoft is gearing up for its next big Xbox showcase in June. If the leak is to be believed, fans might get their first tease of the JRPG project at this showcase.
