Sony’s New Handheld Console Uses PS5 Remote Play

PS5 Console And Persistent Internet Required!

Earlier rumors pointed to a new handheld from Sony. While the rumors alluded to a cloud streaming device from the gaming giant, PlayStation may be going an entirely different route.

The latest report from reliable leaker Tom Henderson states Sony is currently working on a handheld for PS5 Remote Play.

The report further elaborates that the portable console will target 1080p 60FPS gameplay, but users will need to stay connected to the internet at all times.

For the unfamiliar, PS5 Remote Play uses the console to stream games to separate devices. Currently, users can utilize Remote Play to enjoy console gaming on devices like PC and mobiles. This means that a PS5 will be required for the upcoming handheld.

Tom also reports that it is codenamed Q Lite and will carry forward recent PlayStation innovations like the adaptive triggers from the DualSense controller, along with an eight-inch screen.

The Q Lite handheld is expected to release before holiday 2024. This would put it right between the next two rumored revisions of the PS5 console, with a detachable disc drive model expected to come later this year.
