Far Cry 5 May Receive 60 FPS Patch For Next Gen Consoles

60 FPS For Far Cry 5!

The fifth mainline entry in the Far Cry franchise was released nearly five years ago. Far Cry 5 is set in the fictional Hope County and continues the tradition of an open world with engaging first-person shooter gameplay from Ubisoft.

The developer has recently announced a celebration of the game’s anniversary over the next three weeks. This celebration includes a ‘highly requested feature for next-gen consoles’, which may be hinting at a 60 FPS patch and visual update for the game.

Ubisoft has previously updated various games to support the modern hardware found in the Xbox Series S|X and PS5 consoles.

Games like Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey have been updated with these features, and it looks like Far Cry 5 may be next. Since Far Cry is a first-person shooter franchise, the benefits of higher frame rates will be even more apparent than in previous Ubisoft games.

It should be noted that Far Cry 5 was previously playable at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X through FPS boost. However, a potential new update will likely bring a higher resolution along with the improved frame rate.

While nothing is confirmed for now, ray tracing could also be introduced in a new patch. Ubisoft games like Watch Dogs Legion already support this feature on consoles, and Far Cry 5 may be next.

More information will be revealed soon, as stated in the tweet. An improved frame rate and resolution are always a welcome upgrade for older games, and the same can also be said for Far Cry 5.
