Delayed For Unreal Engine 5 And More Polish!

After a number of choice-based narrative games, Telltale Games is set to return with a sequel to 2013’s The Wolf Among Us. Having worked on franchises like The Walking Dead, Batman, Game of Thrones, and more, Telltale Games has become known for its engaging narrative adventures.

The Wolf Among Us 2 was previously targeting a 2023 release. However, the developer has now delayed the game to 2024

The developer cites an engine change to Unreal Engine 5 and aims to avoid crunch in development for the title. CEO Jamie Ottilie stated that Telltale Games does not want to release an incomplete product.

Speaking to IGN, he said:

“The expectations are pretty high, and we want time to meet those.”

Previously, Telltale Games went out of business, but the developer was brought back by LCG Entertainment. Like other teams worldwide, Telltale Games also faced difficulties during the recent pandemic, slowing down the development of their projects.

The CEO stated that Unreal Engine 5 offered a compelling upgrade over the previous iteration, and many developers felt that the upgrade was worth it. However, much of The Wolf Among Us 2 had already been completed on Unreal Engine 4, which led to another setback for the studio.

The Wolf Among Us 2 will follow a similar release pattern that fans have seen in previous titles from the developer. Each episode will be gradually released, but the studio will complete development on the entire game before the first episode is out for audiences to enjoy.
