PS5 Player Base Is Increasing!

Sony has started to see great success with the PS5. Having sorted out supply chain difficulties, Sony has been selling the console like hot cakes, with 7.1 Million shipped consoles in the last quarter.

The recent financial report has revealed that Sony has seen a tremendous financial quarter, and this success is likely to continue into the later months of 2023. Recently, Sony announced that the PS5 user base is growing as gaming consumers move on from PS4 consoles.

Talking about the matter, Sony stated:

“Nearly 30% of PS5’s monthly active users are users who never used PS4, with the spread of PS5, the acquisition of new users is progressing.”

Sony classifies monthly active users as ‘unique accounts using the PlayStation Network.’ This data was taken from the last month of the quarter and is based on Sony’s research.

Based on the numbers, PS5’s current user base is higher than ever. It also shows that the company has successfully acquired new players who may have skipped the PS4 console entirely.

Supply issues have held back the current console generation. Sony had initially planned to move on from the PS4 much sooner, but the lack of PS5 consoles on the market meant that the company was forced to support the last generation much longer.

Games like Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok continued to release on the platform, making the PS4 among the most supported PlayStation consoles. However, with the growing user base, Sony will shift gears to support the PlayStation 5.

The coming months have several exciting games lined up for Sony’s latest console. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy 16, and more are confirmed for the platform. Also, rumors claim Sony is working on a new design for PS5 with a detachable disc drive.

Sony has also started a new advertisement campaign for the console, celebrating its wide availability. The gaming giant has repeatedly reiterated that fans can purchase the console at will to prepare for months of incredible gaming experiences.
